There are several reasons to buy abalone if you have the extra cheese
with which to do it. Some folks make it quite a regular practice to
buy abalone, including it in their diet at least a few times a month.
Not everyone has to follow this example, but it is pretty darn good
for you, so it's worth it to scrape together your pennies once in a
while in order to buy abalone for special occasions.
Of course, eating them is not the only reason to buy abalone.
Wearing jewelry made from their shells, or using the medicinal
products available derived from both the shell and the flesh are
both fine reasons to buy abalone. Of course, the most fun you can
have with abalone is to dive into the ocean and pull a few out to
cook for beach party barbeques where you don't buy abalone and
instead use the money you saved to buy beer and lemons, but what
the heck.
